Abstract

A hundred years ago an important event occurred, i.e. publication of the first social encyclic of pope Leon XIII who, as supreme teacher, elucidated the Church's attitutde towards social problems, especially the then acute workers' question. The author discusses the contents and the leading thoughts of the recently published encyclic of the present Pope.
