Abstract

The author disagrees with Georg Funke on the primacy of common sense in Husserls' phenomenology, taking Husserls' critique of metaphysics to be a critique of a Europe lacking the principle of autonomy and responsibility for itself
According to the author. New Europe symbolizes the primacy of pure reason over common sense. The author considers the attainment of rule by pure reason to be the highest goal of Hussers' practical philosophy. Democracy is based on pure reason and has been the dream of European man since the time of the ancient Greek city states. Husserl was not blind to politics and the phenomena of social conflict.
