Abstract

The author conducted a survey of one hundred women in Zadar seeking an abortion during the first trimester ofpregnancy. His purpose was to determine the women's motives for seeking abortions and evaluate their knowledge on abortion and the fetus. He found that the majority lacked a clear understanding of abortion techniques as well as fetal development. After an informative conversation, twelve of the women decided against having abortions. The author concluded that great ignorance, inhumane relationships between the sexes as well as inadequate training and preparation for responsible parenthood were directly related to the decision to seek abortion.
