Abstract

This paper gives an overview of the most important
experimental studies in the field of minority influence,
starting with early studies of minority influence on
perceptual judgments and Moscovici’s conversion
theory as the result of those researches. Emphasis
is given to the studies of conversion theory in the field
of attitude change, with the focus on investigation of
cognitive processes underlying minority and majority
influence. Described are also results of studies that
included possible moderators of minority influence, e.g.
ingroup and outgroup source of the influence. Methodology is thoroughly described together with changes that are
gradually introduced in the paradigm of minority influence
research.
