Abstract

This paper discusses revolutionary workers and fighting songs in popular uprisings, in peasant uprisings and wars, in civil revolutions, in liberation and civil wars, in strikes and demonstrations, in jails and
camps.
There is special focus on revolutionary songs in Yugoslavia before and after 1918, between the two world wars; on the key song books, the transmission of songs, on revolutionary and partisan songs prior to the Second World War and in the National Liberation War, on borrowing and mixing melodies and texts.
