The efficiency of technological processes and their safety is the sum total of many factors including the implemented anti-explosion protection measures.

Statistical data is supplied showing causes of explosions in industrial plants and mines with explosive atmosphere made up of gases, vapours and dust. Breakdowns on different machine parts in electrical and mechanical equipment in the Republic of Croatia and worldwide are presented as illustration. Methodology for evaluation and acceptability of new and old devices and installations in the risky environment is described, along with new expert knowledge, in order to meet legal requirements.
