Abstract

The theology of the sacraments is the key problem of the ecumenical movement, and sacramental communion, especially in the Eucharistic, is the highest goal of that movement. This article deals with sacraments and sacramentals, as well as intercommunio or communicatio in sacris as a comparative dimension, specifically, of Catholic-Orthodox relations. The main goal of the article is to stress the substantial theological harmony in crucial things that exists between Catholic and Orthodox theological interpretation in the sacramental field (theologia concordia). This does not mean down playing legitimate diversity (theologia discordia). On the ecumenical »via dolorosa« we can draw closer to each other only if we get to know each other better, and only in truth and love, not denying our own identity and at the same time respecting the theological identity of others. We hope that this article will make a small contribution and that it will offer support on the ecumenical path.
