Abstract

The power required by the longitudinal ventilation system of a road tunnel is analyzed according to the way in which fans are operated. The cost-effectiveness of the use of frequency converters for fan operation is analyzed taking into account: the tunnel length, spacing between fan batteries, and expected number of active fans. The analysis has resulted in a group of optimum parameters for which the time of cost-effectiveness of initial investment in frequency converter installation is shorter than the required time.
