Abstract

Abstract Successful management and operation of an organization requires that it be run in a systematic and transparent manner. Success depends on the application, maintenance and constant improvement of the management system, which means a constant improvement of the organization’s efficiency, effectiveness and working abilities, taking into account the needs of the interested parties. In order to achive this, it is necessary to: · establish and promote processes leading to the improvement of the organization’s operating abilities, · constantly collect data and information on the processes, · direct progress towards continual improvement, · apply appropriate methods for evaluating improvement, such as independent audit, self-assessment and Management’s system audit. Independent audits are performed for determining the degree up to which the requirements of the Management System have been met, and used for evaluating the system’s efficiency, as well as for identifying possibilities for improvement. The Management’s task is to perform regular systematic evaluations of the system’s suitability, adequacy, efficiency and effectiveness, given the policy and the achievement of goals. The Management’s audit ensures data for planning the improvement of organization’s abilities and strategic planning of its future. The purpose of an organization’s activity is: to establish and meet the needs and expectations of the customers and other interested parties; achieve competitive advantage; do this in an efficient and effective manner; achieve, maintain and improve overall results and abilities by applying managerial principles. It also needs to manage profits, costs, and risks, in order to achieve direct benefits not only for the organization, but also for the customers and other interested parties. The paper presents several case studies of management system evaluation at “Maziva Zagreb”. Especially pointed out shall be the managerial role within the Management System.
