Journal Tekstil is a scientific and professional journal for textile and clothing technology, published by the Croatian Association of Textile Engineers (HIST), and has been issued continuously since 1952. Initially, it operated with editorial boards from Croatia, Serbia, and Slovenia, and since 1960 the editorial office has been located in Zagreb. Through articles that present achievements in the textile industry, global development trends, and current events in textile technology, design, and clothing production, the journal significantly contributes to the development of the textile industry in Croatia and to the education and recognition of textile experts. It is indexed in relevant international literature sources, secondary reference publications, and electronic databases. In the first decades, the journal published 12 issues per year; since the mid-2000s it has switched to double issues, and since 2019 to quarterly issues. Although earlier issues were published in Croatian, they contained extended summaries in English and German; more recent issues had individual articles in Croatian and/or English, and since 2022 it has been bilingual – Croatian and English.

The author(s) retain copyright and publishing rights without restriction. CC BY is the most open license in the Creative Commons framework. It is suitable for non-profit organizations that provide tools for sharing and using creative works and research. CC BY is an appropriate license for publicly funded research; it maximizes the potential for economic and scientific impact while protecting authors' rights. The journal does not charge authors for the submission or publication of papers (Article Processing Charges – APC). The printed edition is distributed free of charge to authors and university libraries. Papers published in Tekstil may be deposited in institutional and thematic repositories, provided that links to the journal's website are included.
