Sažetak

The article explores the ancient sprang technique, with a particular focus on the shaping of women’s headgear known as “caps” in the traditional attire of Hungarians in Slavonia, as well as their reconstruction and application in contemporary clothing. Specifically, by comparing traditional women’s head coverings, such as the “jalba” from the village of Trg (in Karlovac County) and similar “caps” from Hungarian villages in eastern Croatia, the discussion highlights the importance of preserving this technique and the contributions of Valéria Sebők (from Subotica) in revitalizing and passing down sprang knowledge to new generations.
