Parity violation in high-energy proton-nucleus scattering and a quark-parton model

Abstract

Parity violation in high-energy proton-nucleus scattering is calculated using a parton model in which the proton structure is described by Q2-dependent parton distribution functions. In this model, weak proton scattering is due to quark-quark scattering. Experimental values for scattering of a polarized proton on water can be reproduced with suitable model parameters.
