Sažetak

This study contributes to updating the orchid inventory in the wilaya of Souk Ahras, in the Tellian Atlas, detailing nine newly discovered orchid location and supporting biodiversity monitoring efforts in this province. Using subjective adaptative sampling between March and June 2021 across various plant formations, 23 species/subspecies and 1 hybrid from 6 genera were identified. Ophrys funerea and Himantoglossum hircinum were found, previously unreported in this wilaya. This survey highlights the regional potential as a natural orchid habitat. However, deeper habitat and population dynamic studies are imperative to develop better protection strategies due to ongoing anthropogenic threats.
