Sažetak
Background: The rapid development of digital technologies has produced a broad and heterogeneous body of healthcare related research. Mapping its most influential contributions is necessary to understand which technologies, applications, and user-related issues have shaped this field. Objectives: The main objective of the study is to map the digital technologies represented in highly cited research within the healthcare sector and the 2015–2025 search period. It also examines the development of the field, citation impact, collaboration patterns, intellectual structure, and principal thematic areas. Methods/Approach: 506 Highly Cited Papers were identified using the Web of Science Core Collection search. After title and abstract screening, 388 papers were analysed using citation indicators and VOSviewer analyses. Results: The results revealed artificial intelligence, telemedicine, the Internet of Things and smart healthcare, electronic health records, mobile health, wearable technologies, and conversational agents dominate the field. The analysis also identified themes related to integration, privacy, security, access, adoption, trust, literacy, and equity. Conclusions: Digital technologies in healthcare should be examined not only by type, but also by their use, implementation, and user experience. The findings provide a basis for further DIGIZ research on digital healthcare services and the experiences of patients and healthcare professionals in Croatia.
