Sažetak

Assessment of learning outcomes tremendously impacts learning itself thus requiring
special attention. Information and communication technology enables simpler
and more flexible assessment of learning outcomes with lower teacher workload in
comparison with conventional teaching. As a result, e-learning has been adopting
practice of more frequent assessment and giving detailed timely feedback, which
switches emphasis to formative assessment. CARNet has been exploring all possibilities
of a new version of Moodle, while this paper includes description of Moodle
2.0 tools for assessment: quizzes, assignments, activity completion and conditional
activities. These tools enable teachers to easily and flexibly conduct assessment,
analysis of the assessment results and tracking students progress. In addition, they
enable customization of learning materials and activities for each student on the
basis of the assessment results. Depending on the mode of assessment, students can
obtain detailed feedback and track their own learning process. Consequently, usage
of Moodle is recommended for assessment of learning outcomes because it can
considerably contribute to increase in quality and efficacy of learning and teaching
as well as to decrease of teacher workload. Moodle 2.0 offers a number of advantages
in comparison with the older version: it enables simpler creation of questions,
some new question types, as well as two completely new options in activities: activity
completion and conditional activities. These changes represent new advances
in simplicity, flexibility and individualisation of assessment as an integral part of
learning process.
