Sažetak

Labels are one of the most common products on the global graphic market. Majority of labels are still printed on conventional printing presses based on flexographic or offset printing technology. Constant changes on the label printing market now demand labels printed in shorter runs and with higher level of personalization. Such products are rather printed with non-impact (digital) printing technologies based on electrophotography or ink jet. Nowadays, on the global market, around 1,300 digital printing presses are installed, and the market leaders are HP and Xeikon presses based on electrophotographic technology. There is also an increasing growth in percentage of worldwide installation of digital label presses based on ink jet technology. In the practical part of this paper a detailed description of Durst Tau 150 8C digital label press is given, while in the rest of the practical part, this paper examines an economic profitability of short run label printing, between the digital label press Rapid X and the conventional flexographic label press NILPETER 3300.
