Sažetak

The retrograde sealing ability o f high copper zinc containing amalgam, composite resin and two glass-ionomer materials was evaluated in 45 extracted human anterior teeth. The apical part was resected using a 20 degree bevel. Apical preparation 3 mm deep were prepared with a fissure bur. The teeth were divided into five groups, of 9 samples each. The apical preparation in the first group were filled by amalgam, in the second by adhesive and composite resin (Pertac) in the third group by Fuji IX glass-ionomer, and in the fourth group by Photac-Fil glass-ionomer. The fifth group was a positive control. After 30 days in saline solution at 37 °C they were covered by nail varnish, except for the cutting surface, and placed in 1% ink for one week at 37 °C. After clearing process (5% nitric acid, alcohol, and methyl salicilate) the dye penetration was recorded by electronic magnification device. Mean dye leakage o f amalgam was 1.09 mm (s.d. 0.78), composite resin Pekafill 1.47 mm (s.d. 0.86), Fuji IX GC 1.43 mm (s.d. 0.88) and Photac-Fil 1,45 mm (s.d. 1.12). There was no statistical significant difference among the materials.
