Carnivalized Underworlds: M. Lowry and M. Krleža

Sažetak

The article brings into correlation Malcom Lowry's novel Under the Volcano and Miroslav Krleža's The Retum of Philip Latinovicz. Both of these novels belong to late Modernism and share a number of characteristics, thematically and structurally. The central part of the article demonstrates how Mikhail Bakhtin's category of the "carnivalization" of literature applies to both novels.
