Sažetak
Roman education was associated with daily and practical life from the very beginning. The period of relatively indigenous Roman education was parted by growing influence of Greek cultue, and the next developmental level came with transition from Republic into the Empire. Association between Roman education and literature is evident. Roman writers sought to write for the purpose of entertainment, but also to teach the reader, and Virgil achieved the greatest success in mentioned intention. In this paper we provide an overview of the history of Roman education, starting with description of the way Ancient Romans raised children and of the values that they promoted through education.
