Sažetak

Lexical stability and polylexicality are common features of all fixed phrases. Simultan¬eously, they serve as criteria to distinguish fixed phrases from free word groups, which are generally formed as non-lexicalised constructions according to syntactic and semantic rules. Within the group of fixed phrases, different classes, which have differ¬ent syntactic and/or semantic properties, can be distinguished. Our focus revolves around two groups of fixed phrases: metaphorical collocations and idioms. Metaphor¬ical collocations are fixed and stable word combinations whose overall meaning can be derived from a base and a metaphorically motivated collocate. Idioms, on the other hand, hold the central position within the concept of phraseological units and differ from metaphorical collocations in the degree of semantic reinterpretation within the overall meaning of individual components. Relative formal-semantic stability and polylexicality are important features of fixed phrases, which, owing to their semantic potential, can contribute to the emotionalisation of statements. The aim of this paper is to investigate processes of emotionalisation facilitated by the utilization of meta¬phorical collocations and idioms. This investigation will employ discourse linguistic methods, specifically focusing on the German-Polish discourse within the framework of the Nord Stream project.
