Names of Pastry in the Local Dialect of Nerežišća on the Island of Brač – a Contribution to the Knowing Romances

Sažetak
The lexicon of the Chakavian dialects of Brač is very rich. In addition to words from the Proto-Slavic lexical inventory, there is a small group of Germanisms, some lexemes of Oriental origin, a few Hungarisms, and a significant number of lexemes of Romance origin. Romanisms remain quite frequent in the Chakavian dialects of Brač, especially among the elderly population. This article presents and analyzes the names of pastry of Romance origin in the local dialect of Nerežišća on the island of Brač, based on new field research conducted by the authors of this paper.
