Effects of sex hormones on cognitive function
Ivana Hromatko
Sažetak
Existing sex differences in cognitive functioning have often been explained in terms of socialization factors, i.e. as a consequence of different educational styles commonly used with male and female children. Such explanations became insufficient considering the findings of researchers who report various biological, mainly hormonal influences on cognitive development. Effects of sex hormones are evident as early as prenatal developmental age. The paper gives a comparative overview of these findings, both in humans and animals.
