Sažetak

This article casts a light upon Škvorc's stance on the philosophy of existence, which, being a very influential school, marked a substantial segment of twentieth century philosophical thought. It should be noted that Mijo Škvorc was extremely familiar with this philosophical period, since he, among his many activities, also taught the History of Philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy and Theology SJ in Zagreb. Moreover, his spiritual habitus matched this philosophical pattern which was recognizable in his talks as well as his writings. This evaluation is based primarily upon Škvorc's renowned work Vjera i nevjera (Faith and Unbelief). Testimony to the fact that the philosophy of existence was to Bishop Škvorc indeed a significant point of reference is the number of quotations in the above-mentioned work by representatives thereof, while he fell only slightly short of Aristotel, Augustine and Thomas Aquinas.
