Sažetak
The field of biometry is becoming very important in different areas of human life, work and interest with the developments made in science and especialh/ in digital information. The achievements of biometry are used in the areas of medical diagnostics, private security, surveillance on various public spaces (autentification) and identification of persons for non-investigative reasons such as monitoring elections and the process of proving paternity. This paper focuses on the possibilities of applying biometry in the course of investigation. There are three aspects of biometrical achievements that can be applied in criminalistics. First, the area of biometrical identification of persons; the second area is the so called identification by trače and the third accounts for biometrical characteristics of lesser differential value used in the discovery procedure in the course of a criminal investigation. Biometry has been used for a long time and it has been developing along with human knowledge, human technology and science. Significant development in the latter areas made in the last decades opens the door to applying biometry in the process of identification. Classical methods of identifi¬cation in new surroundings are thereby improving in quality while new methods surface as well.
