Sažetak During adolescence the parent-child relationship is very complex. Social relations have been changing and adjustments have to be made by both adolescents and people they are close with. The emerging changes in adolescence lead to maturity and independent decision-making. The researches have shown that bad relationships with parents, their rejection and excessive control result in emotional problems and maladjustments of adolescents. On the other hand, the adolescents who have established a close relationship with their parents express a higher level of social competence, self-respect, responsibility, as well as a lower level of problematic or deviant behaviour. The aim of this research was to investigate whether the dimensions of parent behaviour perceived by adolescents affect their attitudes toward some aspects of their future lives. The ANOVA research results on the sample of 862 respondents of higher grades of secondary school have shown that there are statistically significant values in the dimensions of family interaction due to the attitudes of adolescents toward different aspects of future. The influence of the variables has not been noted only referring to their college enrolment decisions. The results of this research might be useful in programming the collaboration with parents and adolescents (prevention programmes, education and counselling). In that way parents can learn how to achieve a better understanding of adolescents and the changes that happen in that period and affect all family members.
