Sažetak
Within the framework of the exploration of the history of Croatian philosophy, the author analyses the corpus of Croatian Humanism within European context in her study, which is a part of a larger whole.
Diverse judgements and evaluations of the European historiography of Humanism, diverse, frequently even disparate views, methodological positions and hermeneutic canons, as well as critical evaluations of multifarious aspects and types of Humanism, as seen by the medievalists, researchers of Renaissance thought, cultural and literary historians, philosophers of history, and others, have been presented.
The study also comments upon the importance of Humanism as a whole, its character, sources, ideas and motives, with a special emphasis placed upon philosophical-theological problems.
Some of the central issues of philosophical and theological thinking have been thematized on the examples of works of writers and thinkers belonging to European Humanistic tradition, as well as those belonging to Croatian Humanistic Latinism (Ae. L. Cerva, M. Marulić, J. Pannonius, J. Policarpus Severitanus, N. Modrusiensis, P. P. Vergerius and others), and Humanistic world-views and programs have been elaborated both with regard to the system of education and instruction and to the role of knowledge (studia humaniora).
The study emphasizes historical-theoretical achievements and the contribution of Croatian Humanists to the development of European thinking
