Sažetak

This paper presents the results of the standardization of ceramic assemblages from two Vučedol sites, Damića gradina in Stari Mikanovci and the location at the Street address Matije Gupca 14 from the Ervenica site in Vinkovci. Statistical test undertaken using coefficient of variation (CV) has shown a certain level of standardization of ceramic material which is particularly visible on bowls. A higher degree of standardization observed on type A4 bowls shows that these bowls were used more commonly and intensively in everyday life, which would imply quicker wear and tear, deformation and breakage; which in turn means frequent production and greater experience in manufacture. A greater number of produced material implies acquirement of greater skill and experience, as well as routine production, with the final result being homogeneity of pottery ware. The proposed model of organized production of ceramic products in Vučedol society would mean large-scale ceramic production which is still taking place within a household, and which is conditioned by greater commercial activity, increase of population, as well as social organization marked by stratification of society and emergence of hierarchic relationships. Apart from the items for household needs, products were distributed in the settlement as well as outside it. Manufacture took place locally in the settlement, which has been confirmed by mineralogical-petrographic analyses and the X-ray diffraction method.
