Sažetak

The authors demonstrate the most important aspects in adjusting lateral teeth. Statics, as a dominant rule in the traditional prosthetics is significant for the setting in the mastication center area. It is especially important to obtain occlusion only of that part of the occlusal plane which is above or within the middle of the processus alveolaris. It is recommended to make the occlusal curve comply with the atrophied outline of the lower alveolar ridge to prevent the forward sliding. It is rather difficult if the atrophy is not uniform. It is desired that by closing the mouth an initial contact is obtained on the
retrusion facets, wherewith the stabilization effect is reinforced. It is also advisable, when setting the occlusion, to orientate the mandible slightly ventrally, registrating the arrow angle 1 mm in the ventral direction from its peak. Gysis rule on bilateral articulation balance has maintained its full value. Modern ideas of adjusting teeth in the neutral space take more consideration of the lingual space. Biodinamic balance between the muscles of the cheeks, lips and tongue, is very important, but its significance should not be exaggerated. An important practical indication can be obtained applying the Pound’ s rule. The reduced occlusion according
to Gerber solves many problems both of statics and of lingual space, therefore it has been particularly emphasized. For the technician it is useful to draw out the ridge on the cast, in order to obtain a more evident idea of the form of the ridge and the tendency to sliding under the pressure of the prosthesis in function.
