Resutts of some preliminar investigations of the masticatory forces using a gnathodynamometer of own construction

Sažetak

Many authors have shown an interest in measuring the chewing pressure, starting from various positions. In the literature we find information which sometimes differ. The authors therefore systematically investigated the changes in the masticatory force with
a gnathodynamometer of their own construction. They confirmed the findings of other authors, that the force is greater in the lateral parts than in the frontal, and that it is smaller in women than in men. The masticatory force in men is approximately 56,2% greater laterally than in the frontal region, while it is only 38,9% greater in women. It is interesting that the masticatory force in men is greater on the right side. Further investigations are in course.
