Attentive to the wishes of the youth the educator can help them on their journey towards maturity and formation of an independent personality. At the same time it is important to bear in mind the fundamental characteristics of human needs and the inter-relation of human needs and freedom. The dynamics of human desire points to a person's constant searching. The Educator is called to direct the youth, and to teach him to desire and search. There is a desire for God in each person, but the journey from the initial desire for God to an encounter with God can be long and arduous. Some educational guidelines that can help educators in their work with youth is the formation for the interior, radical dissatisfaction, friendship and invocation. Like Don Bosco, today's educator must be inventive and tireless, and strive to educate young people for friendship; hence, today's young people will be capable to sincerely desire the good for their neighbor. By being attentive to the wishes of youth, the educator can help to spark within them an initial desire for an encounter with God.
