[Prevention of pathological lesions of the oral mucosa due to xerostomia in postmenopausal period]

Sažetak
In 30 postmenopausal women suffering from dryness of the mouth the efficacy of preventive therapy against inflammatory lesions due to xerostomia has been studied. In all examinees xerostomia was diagnosed by clinical and oral testing. Fifteen women were extended functional and symptomatic medicinal therapy against xerostomia and preventive therapy against complications due to the lack of secretion. The remaining 15 women of corresponding age and equal intensity of xerostomia served as the control group. A comparison of the state of health of the women in these two groups has confirmed the efficacy of preventive antiinflammatory therapy and the usefulness of such therapy in postmenopausal period suffering from xerostomia.
