Sažetak

The rebellion in the Sub-Kalnik area was just one of a string of rebellions which swept over Croatia during 1903 aimed at overthrowing the governance system established under the reign of civil governor Khuen Hedervary and which endured for twenty years. The short lived rebellion luckily ended without casualties, but it did result in substantial material damage because the insurgents pillaged and looted their neighbours whom they believed to be supporters of the Union party (pejoratively called mađaroni). A landowner from Bogačevo, Šadnor Fondorczy, and some more affluent peasants felt the ire of the insurgents the most. After the rebellion was suppressed 263 insurgents were indicted, even though the number of insurgents from 28 villages of the Sub-Kalnik area was significantly higher. 152 of them were sentenced to jail, while the rest of the insurgents were acquitted.
