Sažetak

In the three-year faunistic research, from 2009 to 2011, 4 species of scales from the family Diaspididae were registered: Lopholeucaspis japonica (Cockerell, 1897), Pseudaulacaspis cockerelli (Cooly, 1897), Chrysomphalus bifasciculatus Ferris, 1937 and Hemiberlesia rapax (Comstock, 1881). L. japonica, P. cockerelli and C. bifasciculatus are the new members of the Croatian entomofauna.
Considering the European status, the emphasis was put on P. cockerelli - the magnolia white scale. It is known to be an exceptional polyphag. It attacks numerous ornamental trees and shrubs, as well as some fruit species. So far, in Europe it was found in these countries: Italy, France, Spain, Slovenia and Great Britain. In Croatia, it was first registered in 2010 on Japanese holly (Ilex crenata), in the County of Zagreb in Stupnik area and the County of Zadar in the area of Turnj. Except for the first finding of this pest, this report also describes its morphology, biology and control problems.
