Abstracts
The oxidation reaction of o-dianisidine and benzidine has been applied for quantitative determination of organophosphorus insecticides. Extinction of reaction solutions determined at 450 nm in a 1 cm cell was taken as a measure of insecticide concentration. Extinctions were determined by absorptiometric photoelectric measurements. Optimum conditions for the method have been found. In experiments were used various organophosphorus insecticides which are widely applied in practice. Constants of calibration lines for such analytical measurements are given. Results of measurements have been statistically treated and standard errors calculated. The insecticide Dipterex can be determined by this method at as low concentrations as 1.10-4 %, what corresponds to 0.01 mg in the reaction mixture of 10 ml. For a number of other insecticides (ortho-dibrorno, Dimecron, Parathion, Neocide and Nancor) this limit concentration is approximately 10 times higher, while in some cases (Phencapton) it is even 100-fold. Advantage of this absorptiometric method Iies in its applicability to organophosphorus poisons (Parathion) whose quantitative analysis is not possible by the methods of chemiluminescence and fluorescence. The absorptiometric method for determination of organophosphorus insecticides yields good results also in determinanion of these poisons in (dry) foods. In wet foods the stability of organophosphorus compounds is considerably reduced due to hydrolysis catalysed by some food components. For determination of insecticides in food construction of special calibration lines is required.
