Sažetak
In connection with the assessment of work capacity in workers exposed to mercury and its compounds three stages should be distinguished: (1) the stage of harmless mercury absorption in which general work capacity is complete and permanent, (2) the stage of increased mercury absorption in which the worker's work capacity is still preserved (it may be temporarily reduced only in exceptional cases) but the stoppage of exposure is necessary by replacing the worker to another working place in which there is no exposure to mercury; such a stoppage of exposure should last as long as the elimination of mercury in the urine is not below 50 gamma/L in the course of two successive weeks, (3) the stage of intoxication in which the worker's general work capacity is either temporarily or permanently reduced; in the case of a total regression of clinical manifestations only after the elimination of mercury in the urine being below 20 gamma/L in the course of two successive weeks is the worker fit for the work in which there is no exposure to mercury. In severe irreversible and in progressive cases work capacity is permanently diminished, requiring the assessment of the invalidity commission.
