Sažetak
Examining the oral cavity of workers in a storage battery plant certain changes on the lower front teeth have been observed. The incisal edge of the mesial incisor tooth was abraded. On the labial surface of the distal lower incisive a nearly round erosion was seen. There was no enamel in this place and dentine was exposed. Mechanical irritation caused pain. In order to decide the origin of the erosion the average concentration of sulphuric acid in the atmosphere was measured. The turbidimetric method was used. The concentration found was very high: 20 to 40 mg/m3 varying with the height. To reduce the extraordinarily high concentration a protective film was used, and the concentration fell to 1.5 mg/m3. Various aspects of the origin of erosion are discussed. Treatment of such lesions and preventive measures are given.
