The validity of Larsen score in the radiological assessment of rheumatoid arthritis in a long-term study

Sažetak
The results of the long-term study of the value of Larsen
score for radiological assessment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
are presented. Radio graphs of the hands and feet were performed in 40 patients with RA who were treated at the Clinic for Rheumatology, Clinical Hospital Centre Rebro in Zagreb. The evaluation of arthritis by Larsen is made by comparing
joint changes with one of the 6 stages: normal conditions, slight
abnormality, delinite early abnormality, medium destructive
abnormality, severe destructive abnormality, mutilating
abnormality. The scores by stages of all affected joints make
up the Larsen score. Larsen's scoring method is an available
method to express changes in RA quantitatively. It can be use
for assessment of psoriatic arthropaty and ankilosing spondilitis
with periferal joint involvement. The method is used world
wide and can be applied in our conditions too.
