Abstract

The authors present the results of an investigation comprising a group of patients from COPD. The aim of the study was to try to identify how and to what extent this disease affected their quality of life. The group consisted of 50 patients suffering from COPD. The results suggest that the quality of life of those patients is diminished almost in every aspect. The basic emotional disturbances in those patients are depression, general dissatisfaction with their lives and somatic preoccupations. The authors think that those patients in most cases cannot maintain their basic social role neither continue to take part in activities which would satisfy them. They also give some instructions which should be obeyed during the treatment of patients with COPD.
