Sažetak

In the 5-year period (1982—1987) 113 patients have been operated on for varicocela at the Urological clinic of the Clinical hospital »Dr. Mladen Stojanović«, Zagreb, Yugoslavia. Eight of these had the relapse of the disease. The Ivanishevich operation method was used. Out of 113 surgically treated, 76 reported to the Clinic because of the sterile marriage. 89. patients were completely tested and the spermiograms were taken before and after the operation. 75 patients (84%) had astenozoospermia. The progressive mobility was damaged in 14 patients (15.7%). Oligozoospermia was found in 64 patients (71.9%). 62 patients (69.6%) had better spermiogram after the operation. The level of the spermiogram damage before the operation and the results obtained after the operation, lead us to the conclusion that patients should be grouped in two groups. One consisted of patients up to 30, and the other of patients over 30 years of age. In the first group (up to 30) spermiogram was improved after the operation in 83.7% whille in those over 30 it was improved in only 47%. By such grouping of patients into age groups, we wanted to point out the importance of the early detection and the early therapy of varicocela. The improvement of spermiogram after the operation in the group of patients over 30 was for almost 50% lower than in the younger group of patients, namely those under 30 years of age.
