Sažetak

The authors compare the frequency of traffic accidents, the number of casualties in them and the share of injuries of the otorhinolaryngeal and cervicofacial region in the hospitalized in the period from 1975— —1984. The number of traffic accidents is increasing (index: 103), unlike the number of the injured (index: 95) and the dead (index: 71). Injuries of the otorhinolaryi geal region sustained in traffic accidents are becomin less frequent, as is the share of open and comple injuries, politraumas, shock and commotio-concussi« nal syndrome. High facial fractures are twice as fr« quent as the low ones. In treating these injuries it i essential to enable normal breathing and start th energetic antishock, anticommotional and antimicr« bic therapy. Complex injuries ought to be treated by a teai of various medical specialists.
