Abstracts De article deals with the process of the reform of public administration in Slovenia and it is based on the theoretical roots of this process md on direct practical experience in the implementation of the project of the reform of public administration in Slovenia which started in 1995 and has still been going on today. First, the aims of the process y the reform of public administration and the methods of its realisation are determined in the article. In this respect, the author pays special attention to the starting points of a long-term strategy of the , y om of public administration as a guiding idea of the whole process. Then the author systematically describes the areas covered by the j ad reform of public administration, particularly emphasising legal acts which have to be adopted or harmonised for this purpose. In addition, problem in the implementation of this process within the scope of state administration in Slovenia are presented. Finally, the approach and methods of work are determined and basic conditions which must be fulfilled for successful work in this field are pointed out.
