Sažetak

Advance of diabetes mellitus management
has significantly improved and prolonged the life of people
with diabetes, as in people in insulin as in those without
insulin. At present, the atherosclerotic vascular complications
of the coronaries, the brain and the lower limbs are the main
causes for death and disability. Patients with diabetes mellitus
(DM), especially with type 2, have 2-3-fold higher risk for
stroke, higher mortality rate and slower recovery after stroke
compared to general population
