The structure analysis of natural shoot in the virgin forest “Mačen do” Bosnia and Hercegovina

Today, there is a small quantity of preserved ingredients, i.e. virigin forest ingredient
type. They are sporadically located on more or less rugged terrain. Some of them, -being preserved
but unexplored -, are beech ingredients, located in a zone of lower inland Dinaridi, at
[GP “Konjuh” Kladanj, GJ “Gostelja”, water conservation area “Tarev~ica-Zato~a”, section
133, locality “Ma~en do”, with area of 33,30 hectare.
For the purpose of establishing specified elements of virgin forest being researched, six
(6) experimental plots have been selected and set up. They have comprised one specific developing
phase, except the experimental plot one (1) which comprised several developing
phases. The mentioned terrain researches were carried out in 2003/2004. Inside of each
experimental plot, there was shoot photographing done (selender trees under specified level)
in lines-2 metre width and the length covering the complete experimental plot. The following
characteristics have been photographed: species belonging, height type and biting off
degree.
This study has shown the results of researched structures of natural shoots in the virgin
forest “Ma~en do”, at specific developing phases. As it has been expected, a conclusion
reached is that favourable conditions for shoot developing has the phase of rejuvenation and
decomposition. Unfavourable conditions for shoot developing has the identical pole stand
and small timber stand, and late optimal phase.
Virgin forest “Mačen do” shows a significant natural natural beech renuvejation which
appears in varying groups. In distiction from beech economic forest, the virgin forest being
researched has a less number of shoots which shows larger height distinction. The shoots in
the developing phase of renuvejation, at all developing stages, are particularly emphasized
in the virgin forests being researched.
