Sažetak

Human papilloma virus (HPV) infection is the most frequent sexually transmitted diseasse which can, in long term, lead to development of cervical, vaginal or vulvar carcinoma as well as genital warts in untreated patients. HPV infection is one of the main publichealth problems. Education and recommendation for vaccination in the early adolescent age in both girls and boys, as well as secondary prevention will create conditions for the erradication
of HPV infection with the types of HPV which are responsible for the most frequent variations of active diseasse (types 6,11,16,18). In this article we describe the route of infection, spreading and manifestations as well as possibilities of primary and secondary prevention.
