About the Journal

Povijesni prilozi (Historical Contributions) is listed among journals of equal excellence with those having internationally recognized reviews (Category A1). The journal is published by the Croatian Institute of History, Opatička 10, 10,000 Zagreb, where the editorial office is also located. The journal receives support from the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia. From 1982 to 2000, the journal was published annually, and from 2001, it has been released biannually.
The journal is published in the Croatian language, with occasional articles by domestic or foreign authors in other languages. "Historical Contributions" is an academic journal that publishes research results in the field of history and related historical disciplines from antiquity to the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The journal features the outcomes of research projects conducted by the Croatian Institute of History, as well as articles of scholarly content from other authors in Croatia and abroad. The following categories of articles are published in "Historical Contributions": original research papers, preliminary communications, review articles, conference proceedings, and expert articles. In addition to these works, the journal includes reviews and critiques of books and periodicals, announcements, notes, and similar content.
 
The Editorial Board reserves the right to editorially adapt the manuscript to the Journal’s propositions and have them edited, as well as to have papers submitted in Croatian edited in accordance with the standards of the Croatian standard language.
Authors are required to register and submit manuscripts through the Open Journal System (OJS) available on the website: https://hrcak.srce.hr/ojs/index.php/povijesni-prilozi/index. The journal follows the principle of double-blind peer review, ensuring the anonymity of the authors' identities to the reviewers and vice versa throughout the entire review process. Therefore, authors are requested to remove all information about authorship and affiliation, as well as any details in the notes that may reveal the authors' identity.
The journal accepts research articles with a length of up to 15,000 words, including notes, tables, graphics, and other supplements. If an article exceeds this limit, authors are encouraged to contact the editorial office.
