Summary and Analytical Inventory of the Fonds Radio-Television Zagreb. Radio Station Pula (1964/1985)

Abstract

Fonds consist of transcripts of 128 programmes broadcast from the Radio Station Pula from 1964 until 1985 and letters from the listeners attached to the transcripts of the programme »Franina i Jurina«. Apart from the transcripts of informative and social and political programmes and programmes on culture, sports, economy, tourism, agriculture and programmes for particular groups of listeners (children, youth, drivers) and programmes on Istria, the transcripts comprise the work of the Italian editorial board established in 1968. The archives was therefore created both in the Croatian and Italian language. Transcripts are available for the period of 30 years after creation. Archives relevant for the history of business of the Radio Station Pula are still stored in Pula, with the successor Croatian Radio-Television – Croatian Radio – Radio Station Pula. Transcripts enable a representative way of insight into the described period. Apart from programmes on large Istrian companies (Uljanik, Puljanka, Raša Mines, Elektroistra, Rivijera Poreč), cultural events (Festival of Yugoslav Feature Film in Pula) and people and events that have left their mark on the Istrian history, transcripts of reportages from Istrian places, from small villages to cities, and programmes dedicated to farmers are of special value as they preserve information on the development of the Istrian post-war agriculture, life in the countryside and performers of Istrian folk music on traditional instruments. The importance of Dialogues between Franina and Jurina in the Chakavian dialect, broadcast during the described period, are priceless. These dialogues represent an effort of Radio Station Pula to continue the long journalistic experience commenced by the newspaper Naša sloga in 1877. The Dialogues and the letters of the listeners, who actively collaborated in the creation of the dialogues, are currently unavailable due to data protection. They depict the profile of the inhabitants of Istria, both public and private, in a unique manner, through the model of the small Istrian man, thus enabling numerous researches in the areas of linguistics, media and mass culture, history and theory of literature and cultural studies.
