Abstract
Heritage protection, as an exceptionally important resource of every
state, is one of the priorities where education, science, history, economy,
and other social segments intertwine. Conservation research,
as an integral part of conservation practice, requires specific knowledge,
scientific equipment, and a system of cooperation between
conservators and scientists from both natural sciences and the
humanities. The path toward achieving this goal leads through the
education system, in connection with the heritage protection system.
The Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje, through the study programme of
Conservation and Restoration, initiates this process in Montenegro
by establishing cooperation with faculties and institutes that possess
the necessary scientific equipment. The first results relate to master’s
theses in conservation, demonstrating the readiness of all participants
for collaboration. The final goal is to establish a Laboratory
for Heritage Material Research in Montenegro.
