Sažetak
The rapid expansion of generative artificial intelligence (AI) has intensified discussions about the knowledge, skills, and competencies required for meaningful engagement with AI systems. Existing AI literacy frameworks provide important foundations for technical understanding, ethical awareness, critical evaluation, and responsible use. However, the increasing involvement of generative AI in the production and circulation of discourse also raises questions about how communication is shaped within AI-mediated environments. This article proposes reconceptualizing AI literacy through the concept of communicative mediation, which complements competency-oriented approaches by examining how interactions among human actors, algorithmic systems, and technological infrastructures shape communicative processes. Drawing on literature from AI literacy, communication studies, and critical digital literacy, the article proposes a conceptual framework organized around four interconnected dimensions: meaning, authorship, agency, and interpretation. These dimensions provide an analytical lens for examining how generative AI shapes meaning-making, the attribution of authorship and responsibility, communicative agency, and the interpretation of AI-generated content. The article discusses the implications of this framework for AI literacy, education, and language teaching, emphasizing the importance of examining the sociotechnical conditions through which communication is produced and negotiated.
