Sažetak

Although the history of art in the United Kingdom as an independent discipline came to being in the second half of the twentieth century, its roots are found in the nineteenth-century connoisseurship. Today the art-historical research revolvs around the departments, centres and institutes, all of which perform some level of teaching.
