Sažetak

Abstract
Diesel fuel is a complex blend of different refinery products and additives. One among significant environmental properties of diesel fuel is the quantity of poly-aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), while the ratio between saturated and aromatic hydrocarbons bears a considerable impact on the applicative properties of diesel fuels. Given that PAHs are cancerogenic substances, their content in diesel fuels according to the European standard EN 590 is limited to 11% m/m.
PAHs content in diesel fuel is dependent on the components blended into the diesel fuel. Different components from refinery processing contain different volumes of PAHs and are not all equally apt for blending. The present paper considers the following components used for blending: gas oil light, desulphurized oil, kerosene and catalytic oil light. The purpose of the paper has been to test the components in view of PAHs content for the meeting of the European norm EN 590.
One among the most frequently used methods for determining PAHs is liquid chromatography of high normal phases efficiency with isocrate composition of the mobile phase and modified silica column. This method separates saturated hydrocarbons from the aromatic ones, while it separates those aromatic according to the number of rings into structural of mono-, di- and tri+ aromatics. Detection of the said fractions has been enabled by the refraction index detector (RI).
